God Given Gifts

In the days that I have been blessed to reflect as well as count my blessings (without focusing on what I need to do at/for work), I have thought about the gifts that God has given me. What am I doing with them? Some people use their gifts or what others perceive as their talents to make a living, to volunteer using those gifts or sadly do nothing with them. Just because I am not bound to a position in an organization, I still possess God given gifts that I can freely use.

What does God’s word say about gifts? “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,” (Ephesians 4:11-12). Plain and simple, our gifts from God have been given to improve our minds and characters in order to serve in building up His kingdom. Whether or not we are employed does not matter. In using your gifts righteously, you are doing the work of the Lord which I believe is what He intended.

On my website page, I mentioned briefly that “while I have thoughts of writing a book that will hopefully capture what it means to be a Christian Leader in education” I have started this blog to get me in the writing mode. During my daily devotions, I also write down entire scriptures (not just the references to chapter & verse etc.) I come across that I feel will be useful in sharing what I wish to convey in this upcoming book. I truly pray that it will come to pass ultimately “Giving God the Glory”. The Lord has given me various gifts as well as direction to resources that enable me to be victorious in this as well as other endeavors. So, while you think about your God Given Gifts and what you do with them, and I emphasize “YOUR” – not anyone else’s; mediate on this verse:

Scripture: Romans 12:6

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;
